Over the last year, JAMLAC has conducted a number of immigration information events for community leaders through its Hispanic Outreach Program. The events aim to inform the community about the current state of affairs related to immigration issues and to share a Family Protection Plan resource developed at JAMLAC.
Through these events, a relationship developed with the Mexican Consulate in Denver and JAMLAC; this relationship led to JAMLAC being selected to lead several workshops in the community for Mexican nationals. The workshops will focus on the current immigration climate, the rights of individuals, and the need to execute a family protection plan. There will also be workshops focused on US citizenship for those that qualify for naturalization. The workshops also serve to prepare parents, through assistance from the Mexican Consulate, to pursue dual citizenship for their children in case of a separation from the United States.
This new relationship with the Mexican Consulate in Denver is leading JAMLAC into new places in the Denver community. We’re excited about this opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of our neighbors and our city.
