Last month, we shared something vulnerable with you: JAMLAC is at risk of losing a significant portion of our federal funding. It wasn’t easy to say out loud. But it mattered to us to be transparent—because we’ve always believed in showing our community the full picture.
Today, we are just as proud to share this update: JAMLAC remains strong, growing, and prepared—thanks to you, our community, and partners like the Next50 Initiative.
In a stunning act of generosity, Next50 just awarded JAMLAC a new five-year general operating grant totaling $312,500 ($62,500 per year). This unexpected but deeply meaningful funding will help us sustain and strengthen the culturally responsive legal services we offer to some of Colorado’s most vulnerable older adults—especially vulnerable immigrants with a path to legal status, refugees, and survivors of violence.
JAMLAC is honored to be one of just eight nonprofits selected for Next50’s GO (General Operating) Aging Initiative, the largest grant initiative in their history. As Next50 shared:
“These organizations are navigating federal funding cuts, DEI funding rollbacks, and rising demand from their communities. Our multi-year, flexible support will help them remain strong, stable, and innovative amid shifting political and financial conditions.”
This is exactly what the new funding means to JAMLAC: strength, stability, and the ability to meet the moment with compassion, professionalism, and impact—no matter what challenges lie ahead.
While we are still advocating to preserve our federal funding, we want you to know that being “at risk” does not mean we are in crisis. JAMLAC continues to be a healthy, responsible, and growing organization—and this investment by Next50 proves that.
To all who donated or shared words of encouragement in the past few weeks: thank you for helping keep us afloat.
Your trust and support remind us every day that we are not alone in this fight for justice.
