Connecting with a Local Partner: The Life Center

At JAMLAC, we know that no single organization can meet every need — and we shouldn’t try. That’s why we partner with trusted community organizations to bring our services closer to the people who need them most.

JAMLAC currently operates 12 triage legal clinics throughout the Denver metro area, each hosted in partnership with a local community organization. One of those partner sites is the Life Center in Littleton, where neighbors can meet with a volunteer attorney to receive guidance and hope when facing overwhelming legal challenges.

In a recent episode of the Stuck in the Messy podcast, hosts Micah Harrison and Christa Schaller welcomed Patricia Martin, a volunteer attorney with JAMLAC who serves at the Life Center clinic. Patricia shared about her work walking alongside clients who often face barriers connected to homelessness, poverty, and family separation.

For many, unresolved legal issues — whether an immigration application, a housing dispute, or a custody matter — can keep families stuck in crisis. Without access to affordable legal help, these problems can spiral into deeper instability. That’s why our clinics, and dedicated volunteers like Patricia, are such a lifeline.

💡 Did you know? People experiencing homelessness are 10 times more likely to face unresolved legal issues. Without help, those barriers make it nearly impossible to rebuild stability. JAMLAC’s triage clinics exist to break down those obstacles and restore dignity.

We’re proud to partner with organizations like the Life Center and to have passionate volunteer attorneys like Patricia who make this work possible.
