Last week, JAMLAC had the honor of participating in the Colorado DOJ Accredited Representatives Network Convening, a two-day gathering that brought together immigration attorneys, accredited representatives, judges, and consular officials from across the state. This important convening was an opportunity to deepen collaboration, strengthen skills, and share best practices to better serve immigrant communities in Colorado.
From asylum law and religious worker visas to crimmigration, waivers, and ethical practice, the sessions were rich with learning and dialogue. Representatives from the Mexican, Guatemalan, Peruvian, and Honduran consulates joined to highlight the vital services they provide to their nationals and the importance of cross-agency collaboration.
One of the highlights for us was seeing Carmen Murillo Stevens, JAMLAC’s Fully Accredited Representative, open the convening alongside the Office of New Americans. In her welcome remarks, Carmen reminded us:

Carmen Murillo Stevens
JAMLAC’s Fully Accredited RepresentativeCarmen led the event with passion and vision, also inviting to the convening her fellow Colorado DOJ Accredited Representatives Network co-founders — Yazmin Torres of RMIAN and Valeria Leanos of Catholic Charities of Denver. Carmen’s leadership and expertise continue to inspire our team and expand the reach of justice for immigrant families. Kudos to her for representing JAMLAC so powerfully!
This convening is a meaningful step not only for our immigration team but also for the accredited representatives across the state who attended. Together, we continue to grow and strengthen our services. We are reminded that behind every training, every collaboration, and every policy discussion are the lives of people who deserve safety, dignity, and hope.
A big thank you to the Colorado Health Foundation and the Office of New Americans for being our partners and making this collaboration possible. And thank you to everyone who contributed to this convening — and to our partners across Colorado who share the mission of expanding access to justice.
