The Older Adult Legal Program at JAMLAC is set to provide a wide array of legal services, tailored to meet the specific needs of our older adult community members. Here’s what we’re offering:
- End-of-Life Documents: We assist with drafting wills to ensure your final wishes are honored, creating powers of attorney to designate a trusted individual for legal decisions, and preparing advanced directives to communicate your healthcare preferences.
- Family Law Matters: Our team offers support through the complexities of divorce, ensuring dignity and respect throughout the process. Additionally, we help older adults or grandparents in seeking allocation of parental responsibilities, ensuring they can maintain a meaningful role in their grandchildren’s lives.
- Guardianship and Protection Orders: We provide the essential legal frameworks to safeguard the rights and well-being of older adults, including establishing guardianship and securing protection orders when necessary.
- Immigration Services: Recognizing the diverse backgrounds of our community, we offer specialized immigration services to ensure all older adults have access to the legal support they need, irrespective of their immigration status.
- Residency renewals (I-90), the naturalization process (N-400), including medical certifications for disability exceptions (N-648), VAWAs, U-visas, and SIJS cases (in case you are caring for a child that does not have status).
