JAMLAC is proud to celebrate a very special recognition received by our Immigration Director and Co-Founder, Sulma Mendoza, during the event “The Power of Your Own Story” hosted by the Consulate General of Mexico in Denver and Vuela por Salud – Vuela for Health.
The event brought together more than 200 women leaders and community members from Colorado and Wyoming to support and strengthen the Policy for Comprehensive Care and Connection for Women (VAIM), an initiative focused on advancing support for Mexican women in our region.
During the event, Consul General Pável Meléndez Cruz presented the prestigious “Leona Vicario” Consular Recognition to 15 outstanding women leaders whose work has made a meaningful impact supporting the Mexican and Latino communities across Colorado and Wyoming. Among those recognized was Sulma Mendoza, alongside remarkable leaders representing advocacy, public service, community organizing, and empowerment throughout the region.
This recognition reflects Sulma’s decades of tireless work expanding access to justice, dignity, and hope for immigrant families. As Co-Founder of JAMLAC, Sulma has helped build an organization that today serves thousands of vulnerable individuals and families every year through immigration legal services, advocacy, and holistic support.
At JAMLAC, we know that behind every legal case is a human story — stories of courage, resilience, sacrifice, and hope. Seeing Sulma recognized among such inspiring women is not only an honor for her personally, but also a reflection of the collective work being done every day to uplift and strengthen our communities.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Sulma Mendoza and to all of the incredible women honored during this meaningful event. Your leadership continues to inspire future generations and reminds us all of the power of using our own stories to create change.
