JUNE IS ADULT PROTECTION AWARENESS MONTH HERE IN COLORADO

Jun 4, 2026 | Uncategorized

At JAMLAC, Adult Protection Awareness Month is a meaningful reminder of the importance of protecting the dignity, safety, and rights of older adults in our community.

One of the special moments earlier this year was when, Elizabeth Davidson, Director and Attorney of JAMLAC’s Older Adult Law Program, and Nayeli Torreblanca, the program’s Intake Coordinator, attended a unique and inspiring workshop where high school students stepped into the role of teachers to help older adults better understand and use technology.

What they witnessed was more than a lesson in computers — it was a beautiful moment of connection across generations. With patience and enthusiasm, students guided older adults through everyday digital tools, helping build confidence, independence, and community.

The experience reflected something we see every day at JAMLAC: access matters. Whether it is access to technology, legal services, or trusted support, older adults deserve the tools and protections needed to navigate life with dignity and peace of mind.

Through JAMLAC’s Older Adult Law Program, older adults receive critical legal services including wills, powers of attorney, advance directives, grandparent custody assistance, protection orders, and end-of-life planning documents.

As our older adult population continues to grow, so does our commitment to ensuring they are seen, protected, supported, and empowered.
