Strength in Uncertainty: JAMLAC Expands Services for Older Adults with Support from NextFifty Initiative

by | Jul 24, 2025 | Uncategorized

This past week, we shared with you a deeply honest update: JAMLAC is at risk of losing a significant portion of our federal funding—an amount that would impact hundreds of lives. That news was hard to share. But it was also a reflection of our values: transparency, urgency, and faith in our community.

We want to be equally clear now: JAMLAC remains a strong, growing, and stable nonprofit, thanks to the outpouring of support from our partners, donors, and foundations that believe in our mission.

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our continued partnership with the NextFifty Initiative, a Colorado-based foundation committed to improving the lives of older adults and their caregivers. This funding will allow JAMLAC to expand culturally relevant legal services to clients aged 50 and older across the Denver metro area.

“We’re committed to meeting the unique and varied needs of older adults in our area, so we are excited to grow our legal services with this funding,” said Steve Thompson, Lead Servant of JAMLAC. “This investment from NextFifty Initiative will provide much needed life-changing legal services for older adults in the community.”

“We believe that older adults are a critical part of our communities and that providing opportunities for all people to remain active and engaged as they grow older is important,” said Chandra Matthews, Director of Programs at NextFifty Initiative. “We’re grateful for the work that JAMLAC is doing to improve the quality of life for people aged 50 and older, and are proud to support this and other efforts to help people age with dignity and purpose.”

This partnership reflects what’s happening all around us: despite the challenges, JAMLAC continues to grow and adapt—rooted in faith, community, and bold vision.
